On January 29 I went to the Elisa shop in Turku and made the 2 years contract for a 1Mb connection
I didn't wanted to buy the modem ( price 120 Euro ) and wanted to pay it of during 2 years time.
Went home and had the new connecting running on 15oo a clock. Did I say running? I meant crawling. I compared the " speed " of Elisa mokkula to my Saunalahti ADSL connection did some adjustment in my calculations because I had a 2Mb ADSL connection and compared to Saunalahti which by the way is not the quickest Internet provider Elisa mokkula was 12,87 times slower in downloading a zip file and 22,5 times slower on youtube compared to my ADSL connection and I just compare Elisa mokkula with Saunalahti ADSL and don't use the magic word " maximum " speed. Elisa is using this word to bullshit it's " customers.
So back to my story. Elisa mokkula was so fucking slow, at times the download was only 2 KB per sec ( I saw this from my downloader ) Elisa had its own program showing you a figure but this figure was in kilo bits and not bytes so that can be confusing to people who are used to the byte figure by downloads. I had Elisa mokkula running from 15oo a clock until 22oo a clock and then I was fed up. Next day I went to the Elisa office and wanted to cancel the contract and return the modem but NO FUCKING WAY. Then started the problems between " Purkata " the contract and " irtisanoa ". My Finnish isn't that good and I was thinking " what's the fucking difference? ".
The difference is this: " Irtisanoa " means to walk out of the contract which you can do only AFTER your 2 year contract has passed.
" Purkata " it's like braking the contract and according to Elisa if you want to brake the contract then you will have to pay them for the next 2 years the sum you agreed to pay them for their " service " even if you don't use their service. I English this means: You pay for the product you ordered not the product you get even when there is no product or service you get.
It's like you have a 2 year contract with the local bakery to bring you 10 bums to your house every morning but you cancel the contract because you only get 1-2 bums every morning and sometimes not at all. Then the bakery wants you to pay them for 10 bums every morning for the next 2 years even if you get no bums. " Well it's your problem when you brake ( purkata ) the contract and you don't want to get 1-2 bums every morning and sometimes non at all and pay for 10 bums because in your contract you ordered 10 bums. So you pay for 10 ( see contract ) and you get one or two ( if you are lucky )
That's Elisa. Now the mokkula modem. The contract states: " From the morning you take the plastic cover away from the moment you can not return it anymore because Elisa gives you the possibility to test the modem at the Elisa shop ".
Pardon me? The sales person said nothing about this. ( read the small print ). Well I never read the small print because I trust Finnish companies. I live since 24 years in Finland never had a problem. If I go to shop and I buy something and at home I discover it doesn't work the same or the next day then I return as as soon as I can and never a shop refused to take it back.
This is my basic right as a customer ( see Finnish constitution about basic rights ) Did I miss something? Did the Finnish law change and now the companies can fuck the customer any way they want? You pay for what you order not what you get? What the fuck is this!?
Oops! Back to the my story. So I go to the kulutanvirasto ( consumer protection = government ) and they say to me: " you have to make the speed tests on the Internet over a period of 3 days and print those papers out ". So back to the Elisa office I go.
Me: " Can you please give a new password for my Internet connection because I removed the program and lost the password and I have to make those official Internet tests? ".
Sales person: " You don't need to because you ( purkata ) broke the contract and your Internet connection will be cutted off soon ".
Me: " How long will it take? ". Him: " I don't know know but it could happen until Friday or next Monday. "
3 weeks later I get an email: " Sorry for the delay I gave orders to cut your Internet connection ".
I was thinking: " Thank goodness ". A week later I got a bill: 15,61 Euro. I paid the bill thinking that it was the last I see of Elisa but....
NO FUCKING WAY!!!
Elisa (Tarja Mohell): Our Internet service will improve during the coming spring-summer so there is no reason to brake the contract and I have have connected you back on line.......
and " maximum speeds can not always being guaranteed because of the nature of the Internet traffic. At times we experience a rush ".
What the fuck!? I was complaining to them that Elisa was 45 slower then Saunalahti ( who has the same problems with rush ours = no problems at all actually ).
How can she switch me back again without my permission?? So I complained. 2 weeks later I get the bills. a) to pay for the time they cut me off from the Internet ( 5 weeks ) plus the time after when she put me back on-line and I don't use their service and even if I wanted too I could not because the sales person in the Elisa shop didn't wanted to give me a new password because " you will be cut off from the Internet soon so you need no passport ". Soon?? I as cut off 3 weeks later and had to pay for this 3 weeks anyway but could not use their " service ".
All in all I used Elisa mokkula for one evening on the 29 of January, paid 15,61 Euro for this evening and Elisa wants me to pay them for the next 2 years for this evening.
The money the want now from me every month for getting nothing is: 19,95 Euro. I paid the first month or 3 weeks. So Elisa wants me I pay them 458,85 + 15,61 =474,46 Euro for using the Internet one evening for 7 hours at snail speed. If this is not plain robbery plus harassment when you count the long hours of waiting in their " shop " or on the phone or writing them all those emails again and again. But they can get away with because they are big? No fucking way!! I rather go to jail then to pay for a product I never got. If they have their way some day somebody will knock your door and want literally to fuck you because it's somewhere hidden in the small print. " You pay for what you order not for what you get ". Fuck no!!! Imagine the restaurants if they would do the same!
" Waiter "! One bottle of your most expensive champagne ! Waiter 20 minutes later: " Here is your glass of water sir and here is the bill for the champagne you ordered ".
NO FUCKING WAY!!!
And according to Finnish law: The basic rights you have as a citizen or worker or custumer are stronger then any contract you mey sign!!! End of story and lets go fuck Elisa
