LKpN 101 JG 101 & JG 300 Fw. Ewald Preiß Fw 190A
The second version of LKpN 101 mesh flying helmet.
The helmet has a top strap for the oxygen mask.
There are also the hooks under the earphones for the oxygen mask.
Rear view of the Netzkopfhaube.
Pilot's name "Preiß" looks an old and original for the helmet. "JG 101" is most probably a post war add.
Manufacturer's label is a mid-war era one.
Interior view with a throat michrophone.
This helmet was bought by the earlier German owner from Fw. Ewald Preiß relatives in the 80's. He had this helmet in his collection some 20 years. The Netzkophaube was the most popular WW2 era LW flying helmet. Here a nice YouTube link for German aircrafts and flight helmets in color. Those Me 109s in the end of the video may be Jagdfliegerschule 109s HERE!

"Leon" taking off with Fw 190A-8/N during Flying Legends 2009.
On 2 March 1945 Ofw. Rudi Zwesken ( Verbandsführer 6. Staffel ) shot down two B-17s in less than five minutes. During a third victim on sight he exhausted his munitions. He broke off and his wingman warned of Mustangs behind him. Zwesken bailed out before Mustangs fired. His motto was "Better to be a live parachutist than a dead pilot". Fw. Preiß did same and Uffz. Erich Weisbrod followed. Abandonings did not lead to an immediate court martial charges that time....
Fw. Ewald Preiß was shot down by P-51s on March 24 1945 while flying Fw 190A-9 W.Nr. 205279 Grune 3. During an airborne operation "Varsity" 2029 transports and glider of the 9th AF and 832 similar RAF types dropped paratroopers around Wesel. RAF Bomber Command had 537 bombers in the air and USAAF 8th AF mounted 1749 bomber sorties and 1375 figher sorties on that day. II./ JG 300 put 32 fighters in the air. During the fights 6. Staffel was wiped out. Seven pilots including Fw. Ewald Preiß fell to 353rd FG P-51 Mustangs. Mustang pilots of 353rd FG claimed 14 Focke-Wulfs and 15 Messerschmitts. II.(Sturm)/JG 300 had 15 pilots killed or wounded total....
