02.08 Azerbaijan 120208-04 Baku, Sabunchu and Khatai districts. Azerigas. A tanker truck carrying LPG overturned in Baku around 13:00, not far from the refinery, exploded, and caught fire. The incident apparently occurred near a gas pipeline. Kamandar Eyvazli, a spokesman for Azerigas, said: “The main reason a problem occurred in gas supply in Baku is the crash of a truck carrying propane gas in Nizami district several hours ago, and the occurrence of fire as a result of it.” According to him, the gas flow in the pipeline was suspended to prevent a second major incident. Eyvazli said that this pipeline supplied part of Nizami, Sabunchu and Khatai districts with gas and noted that work was being conducted at the site for elimination of the results of the blast, adding: “The gas supply will be restored as soon as the this work finishes.” He said that the gas supply would be restored in 1-2 hours. The Azerigas official said that no serous problem on gas supply was recorded in the other places of the capital.
