Feather Pattern Tutorial

You will need the following tools to complete this tutorial:
- Open a new image (File > New): 400 x 400 pixels, 72 ppi, white, 16.7 million colours.
- Set your foreground style to gradient and pick a gradient (mine is Chrome Reflect) using these settings:

- Flood fill your image with the gradient.

- Apply Effects > Edge > Enhance three times. You should get a funky pattern in the image.

- Apply Effects > Artistic Effects > Topography using the default settings (click the
button).

- Apply Effects > Texture Effects > Rough Leather using the Custom 3 preset:

- Apply Effects > Reflection Effects > Kaleidoscope using the default settings (click the
button), except change the number of petals to 6. Everything else should be at zero.

- Apply Effects > Plugin Filters > Simple > Half Wrap.

- Apply Effects > Plugin Filters > Simple > Blintz.

- Resize your image (Image > Resize) using the following settings and you're done! Save either as a .png (better image quality) or as a .jpg (smaller file size).

Click on the images to see them tiled.

Note: Your pattern will probably be too busy to use for a Web page background as such - you may want to mute it, or you can use it as it is if you enclose your text in a table that has a background colour you've chosen from the pattern.
