Warrior Women in History and Fiction
![]()
It is said many times that women are soft and tender creatures who preserve life as they have the ability to give birth. It is often said that there might have been an era in prehistory with no wars as women were appreciated and leaders.
That is not true. Fiction, legends and history itself proves that warrior women have lived in both reality and our minds for centuries (and being a leader is always being a leader, it's not a question of gender or idealism).
This is not to say war in general was good or anything like that. It would be great if things were like in John Lennon's "Imagine", for the whole world, men and women. But the fact that women have been also other things than gatherers, mothers and helpless princesses to be saved is usually neglected.
It isn't all women, just part of us (though I can't say how large a part), but it's equally wrong to say like described above. As much as this, the fact that all men aren't warlike and hard is neglected in these generalizations. Modern day women even seem to have more freedom than men what comes to how we can dress, etc.
This page is dedicated to warrior women as my soul is that of one.

The myth of the feminine nature
This site isn't based on scientific research. It's rather to be taken as a speach in the conversation about womanhood.
Castle of Warrior Women is another page dedicated to the same issue. To anyone interested in the question of feminism, the image of women, etc. I suggest taking courses in women/gender research at your local university or other place where it can be studied. You can also get a lot of information by reading books like Caine & Sluga: Gendering European History.
Gladiatrix is a site dedicated to female gladiators.
