My first contact with newfs was as early as 1972. I was four years old and when we moved to a new house I very soon found out that neighbours had a wonderful, black newf-male called Castro. I fell immediately in love! After (many) years of asking and begging a newf , my parents finally caved in and after many problems on the way, I got my very first newf, Caro in 1984 from Sweden. Caro left us in 1996. My sister Petra got also interested with this breed along the way.

At this moment I have three newfs at home,  Molli, born 1997,  Tippa   (Manta's daughter) born 2003 and  Turska, born 2006. Turska is the first white & black in the family. I had dreamed of getting wh&bl female for about 20 years and finally I got Turska. All are shown in dog shows, in obedience and in water rescue (well actually we haven't competed in water-rescue but have been training that), but most of all, they are companion dogs, living in the house.
My sister has three newfs,  Manta, born 1997 (Molli's sister) , Meimi, born 2006(Tippa's daughter) and Rauha, born 2007.


Ensimmäinen kosketukseni newfoundlandinkoiriin oli aika järisyttävä. Näin elämäni ensimmäisen newfoundlandinkoiran, Castron, ja rakastuin! Ikää minulla oli 4 vuotta ja Castro taisi olla lähes saman ikäinen. Monen vuoden vanhempien pehmityksen jälkeen sain ensimmäisen nöffini, Caron. Toimme hänet Ruotsista 1984 ja hän lähti taivaan suureen luutarhaan 1996 lähes 13-vuotiaana. Caron myötä myös sisareni Petra innostui rodusta, joten tämä on meille yhteinen harrastus.

Tällä hetkellä kotona on kolme nöffiä, Molli, Tippa ja Turska. Lisäksi sisarellani on kolme nöffiä, Manta , Meimi ja Rauha.
