GB-cats

I bought my first british shorthair cat, Minttu, in 1991. It was love at first sight! Nowadays I have four british ladies - three of them from my own litters. I am a so called "parlour breeder" so I breed 1-2 litters/year. My breeder name is "Kehräämön".

When people who are interested in british shorthairs call me and ask about the nature of a british cat, I always answer (I have to...), that if you do not want to be alone and you enjoy constant companion almost to the boredom, get a british shorthair! As a bonus you get the lovely, bearlike looks (and size...) of the british. And you can hear the purring - even in the middle of the night, when your "little angel" decides it is time for you to give him/her some cuddles.

EC & EP Tuulitassun Patced Minttu, BRI f, tortie. Born 13.05.1991

Minttu loves attention and is very affectionate. She follows me everywhere and demands to be loved. She is the queen of our cat population and keeps everybody in their places... which means under her. When visitors come, she is usually the first one to greet them as she knows that they have the patience and time to pet and admire her!

Also reading a newspaper is quite a show! Minttu keeps on throwing herself on the paper and it is quite hard to read under a 6 kg cat! If she doesn't get enough love during the day, she wakes me up in the middle of the night patting me "gently" with her paw and her purring is quite demanding...

This picture was taken 06.12.1997 in the cat show were Minttu became European Premior. The photo shows very well Minttu's way of showing herself - "singing to the victory"! She has been nominated for Best In Show and Best in Variety quite often and she has also a couple of times been BIS. Minttu is a so-called "naughty tortie"!

EC Kehräämön Amanda, BRI f, tortie. Born 28.05.1993

Amanda has known from the beginning how to enchant the judges at cat shows with her round expression and a very lovely temper. She has been the most successful of my cats and has been nominated BIS and BIV many times and has also been BIS a few times.

At home Amanda is as well tempered as at cat shows. Everytime I go to my bedroom, she dashes there quickly - she knows that when I'm in bed, she can get my attention. And she really wants that! She starts to purr already when she sees my hand and then I have to scratch her tummy - endlessly... She if equally affectionate to my other cats and takes care of grooming them.

EC Kehräämön Bonbon "Namu", BRI f, tortie. Born 16.07.1994

Namu is the most talkative of my cats. She always has something to say about things! She also has a very sweet temper and this has been noted also in the shows. She has been nominated also several times for BIS and BIV.

Namu is also a very good mom! Her kittens have been quite big and they all have their mother's lovely temper.

At the moment I do not take Namu to the shows as she is already European Champion, but maybe after she has been spayed, we will start again in the Premior classes.

GIC & EP Kehräämön Blue Candy "Karkki", BRI a, blue. Born 21.11.1995

Before spayed Karkki was quite thin as she was in heat all the time and forgot to eat! Also when in heat, her voice was so terrible that I decided to spay her just after she became GIC. A few months after the operation Karkki had already gained weight so much that when I took her to a cat show in Premior class, my friends didn't recognize her and thought Karkki was a male... In PR classes she has been nominated several times for BIS and BIV. She became European Premior 31.7.99 in Helsinki.

Karkki is a real "mama's little baby" - always coming to my lap and beside me. She cannot get enough of affection! What comes to visitors, she is much too shy. Most of the visitors see only tip of her tail or not even that when she goes hiding!

Lately she has accepted also my husband to cuddle her...
