Heinäkylä  elementary school is a small village school about 20 kilometres to south from Kiuruvesi. There are 36 children going to school this school year. Because of the long distances between home and school,  most pupils come to school by  taxi and go home by bus or taxi. In general the personnel of this kind of school consists of two teachers and a cook
One of the teachers  teaches the grades of  1 - 2 and the other teacher  the grades  3 - 6.  The special teacher visits the school once a week for a  period of  2 - 3 lessons. He gives special training and exercises in reading and speaking. The pre-school group ( 0 grade) joins the 1 - 2 group for two days a week and the day nursery group ( acting in this school house) for 2 - 3 days a week.
