Images from the Finnish Air Force US F/A-18 Hornet Training

Interesting things to see in the USA:

These pictures are not in any chronological or hierarchical order. They are just random pictures from the US Southwest for you to enjoy.

The time span is from January -95 to October -95 starting from Lackland AFB, San Antonio, TX and proceeding to California, Arizona and Nevada.

Life is good

All US photos by J Lindberg - seen smiling on the upper right over the San Joaquin valley on the way to NAS North Island, San Diego.

We took some 1500 slides during the ten month long US training. There are some pretty nice pictures of people, places and aircraft in Texas, Nevada and California.

As you may guess you can meet some interesting people if you are an aviator in the US - like The Blue Angels and see some interesting aircraft - like the F-117A Nighthawk. You can go to some interesting places - like the Davis-Monthan AFB or Edwards AFB. And there seems to be an aviation museum or a warbirds display always around the corner. Blue & White Angels

More Blue Angels and stealth photos at the bottom of the page. Also a link to FlightLineMag's new Blue Angels interview.

When are scanning our US slides at the moment. We will bring you more pictures from our US training on the Photo Gallery page. Check also Carrier Operations on the USS Kitty Hawk for more pictures. There are even more pictures about the carrier aviation on the CV-63 USS Kitty Hawk page.

Many thanks to the Defense Forces Training Development Center in Helsinki. They did a great job in scanning the first 44 US slides in June 1997. After we got our own scanning equipment we'll be able to bring you the rest of the pictures in a pretty random order. There may be a theme at times if we can group enough pictures of the same topic.

There are also pictures from the USN Aviation Physiology and Water Survival Training.

NASA Dryden Flight Research Center

The legendary Edwards Air Force Base - and one of NASA's most interesting places - the Hugh L Dryden Flight Research Center. Can't miss it. There are two tours a day and they are interesting. In 1995 you could see the mothballed YF-23 (picture below) this year they showed their two active SR-71s (how about that). For a Hornet driver it is nice to see NASA's glossy blue and white F/A-18 chase planes - they almost look Finnish with their paint scheme.. NASA's F/A-18 chase plane

Check NASA Dryden WWW Home Page for more info.
