is short and excellent and covers all areas. Easy
to cut through the language. The best I have
seen." (Trennoche) "The
book is concise but my edition (1966) is visually
unattractive. One or two colours among the text,
use of more fonts etc would improve the very
classical layout. The explanations are slightly
turgid, a little old-fashioned. More examples
would be handy. Good index but nothing on

Dictionary. It has brilliant descriptions of very
subtle distinctions of meaning. Plenty of
colliquiams including equivalents for the very
difficult to understand English phrasal verbs
(i.e. 'make up' 'agree with' 'go away''hang up'
etc.). The dictionary also includes plenty of
slang, vulgarisms, etc. Basically anything you'd
possibly want is in here.."
