LUX / concept sketch
The name LUX was chosen as the Latin word for "light" and because it was suggestive of "luxury". The dreams and wishes of the clients, the inspiration of the building site on the shores of Lake Pyhäjärvi and the modern architectural expression generate the aims for this projects. The search for the concept has begun... |

LUX / site study
LUX is sited to the northeastern edge of the site. It both opens and closes different kinds of outdoor spaces with its form thus emphasing the hierarchy between the main entry and garden areas. At the same time the zig-zaggin LUX reacts to the sunlight and views offered by this unique site. With the clever use of design, the interiors flow openly in and out without visual barriers.

LUX / freehand sketch
LUX seen from the southeast. The carport is on the right, then a zone of green plants and trees, before the main entry into the zig-zagging two-storey-high house. The main building boarders the eastern edge of the site taking maximum use of the solar cycle for light and energy as well as opening up the best views to the Lake Pyhäjärvi. A one storey-high sauna building is sited by the lakeshore to the left of the image. |
