Construction process: construction of the building began in March 2010 and people moved in one year later, in March 2011. The facades were plastered white and carport completed during spring 2011.

Villa Mäntylä / southside / July 2011
The main building seen from south. The old appletrees were saved as part of the landscaping. An interior courtyard opens up to a terrace and separate sauna building (right).

Villa Mäntylä / northside / July 2011
The full length of the site was used to accommodate the main building, sauna with a roof terrace and the wood-built carport. The border of the very narrow site is marked by green bushes.

Villa Mäntylä / roadside / July 2011
The main building looks exactly the same - and even better - when compared with the concept visualizations and the end of this webpage. All the aims of the project were met and the modern look of the house combined with its inner courtyards have given rise to positive feedback.

Villa Mäntylä / facade plastering / October 2010
The main building was plastered grey for the preparation of the final surface. The whole building and the annexed sauna building to the left will be finished off in light-gray-white.

Villa Mäntylä / roof height / June 2010
The main building reached its roof height at the end of June. In this photograph the construction site is seen across the neighbour's garden.

Villa Mäntylä / groundbreaking / March 2010
The building site after the surface soil was exchanged to sand and gravel. The neighbourhood is composed of different types of single family and row houses with all different colours and materials.

Villa Mäntylä / building site
The building site as seen in reality in Autumn 2010. The new building is under construction with insulation material being installed to the roof. Also the outside walls have the first layer of plaster. Comparing the photomontage below with the photograph of the real building, it is amazing how well the two reflect each other.

Villa Mäntylä / panorama
The building site as seen in a photomontage. The new building is designed to be white and modern in the appletree orchard of the existing garden.
