Project description: The assignment was to design a new extension to an excisting single-family house from the 1960's. The new extension included a sauna, bathroom and a after-sauna room. Also the interior of the original house needed some convertions and rearrangements, especially in the households bathrooms and kitchenette. The original garage was ideal for a mediaroom. Also a new shed and carport were built to the site.

Noki - ikon / plan
The floor plan of the sauna extension shows how the new building was connected to the existing main house. A new entry was created between the old and new parts of the house thus connecting the terrace, dressing room and the old main building with a guest room and a toilet.

Noki - ikon / section
The forms and heights of the interior spaces are clearly visible in this longitudial section of the extension. The delicious bathtub was partly sunk into the foundation to enable easier access to the joys of waterworld.

Noki - ikon / elevation
The building was completely built out of Finnish wood except for the waterprotected surfaces of the bathroom. All the facades are tar-black in colour and the window panes are dark-gray. The roof and all the accessories are made out of galvanized sheets of metal left to natural state.
