S A L K O L A H T I Project assignment: The assignment was to design a unique, but moderate-cost house, that could be mostly built by the family themselves. The client wished for a contemporary house, that would be competetive to readymade houses. The design had to meet the challenges presented by the program, site conditions and existing urban code. The client gave us freedom in architectural expression as long as it was reasonalbly argumented. |

Salkolahti / composition collage First ideas about the different sizes and relations between spaces was done by collage tehnique. Composition of spaces was easy to master, when you had to take into account the site itself, views, neighbours, daylight and access. |

Salkolahti / concept sketch Early sketch showing the concept of Stealth fighter. The idea was to convert the image of the invisible fighter into a modern house. The idea of tilted house arouse at the same time. The archetype like house needed a little twist, a kind of delusion: "A house kicked in the corner". |

Salkolahti / preliminary models The first sketchmodels were made in the scale of 1:200 together with the preliminary sketches. These models were practical 3D investigations into the forms, that the preliminary plans could take. |
