Construction process: this project was constructed in 15 days. It was completed in April 2009. Here you can follow the final leg of the construction process, the official opening and the finished interior in use.

Tieto / Bookstore
The Bookstore in action during the Tampere Architecture Week 07.-13.09.2009. From the street level the visitor can easily access the basement-level Gallery, which exhibited photographs from Jussi Tiainen.

Tieto / Proshop
This section of the Bookstore provides books, materials and tools for the professionals. The all-white-interior receives colour from the thousands of articles sold in the store, thus evading the hyper-sterile look of an asylum.

Tieto / Gallery
The underground space in the basement serves as a gallery for art exhibitions as well as for various social events from professional training sessions to free public speaking.

Tieto / Wednesday evening
As the pleasant Opening drew to a happy end the last remaining guests were still in the mood for talking all night long about art, books and culture in general. Finally the Bookstore closed its doors and shut down the lights for the day.

Tieto / Wednesday afternoon
The official Opening of the Bookstore in the late afternoon on Wednesday, April 1, 2009. The invited guests, 150 persons all in all, arrived to enjoy the evening with interesting discussions, presentations, good food & drink as well as live music. The Bookstore was filled with people: on the ground floor discovering the wonderful world of books and in the underground listening to the interviews and music.

Tieto / Wednesday morning
The TIETOkirjakauppa opened its doors on Wednesday, April 1, 2009. Here's a ground floor view of the interior of the Bookstore. The background is all-white, the furniture is a happy mix of reused, customed and readymade, but above all, the colour & design of the books give versatile visual atmosphere to the place.

Tieto / Tuesday
The final rush of cleaning up the place and putting the books on shelves for the Grand Opening tomorrow. When the going gets tough, the tough get going! Here Aki is showing superior gamemanship in working around the clock in order to welcome his first clients in the morning.

Tieto / Sunday
The deadline closes in as the builders complete the finishing touches to the interior. This photograph was taken on Sunday afternoon only three days prior to the Bookstore opening, which is on Wednesday, April 1, 2009.
