| The fishing area, which is great natural beaty, is peaceful and pleasant in scale. It is 4 km long with 5 rapids and a separate small lake for fishing big pikes.
The banks of the river are forested and uninhabitated. At the best you may fish with a beaver or covey of waterfowl accompanying you while an osprey is seeking its prey.
Fishing from the boat is possible on the upper part of the
river (2 km) or on the small lake "Pieni-Poikimo" (6
hectares). The upper part is about 200 meters broad in some places
and shallow on the banks, narrowing in many spots as rocky streams.
The small lake and the upper part of the river are also excellent
for the exciting torch fishing at nights.

The lower part of the river (2 km) with its four rapids is dedicated for fly fishing and spin fishing.
The rapids are narrow, hard bottomed, shallow and easy to fish on the banks and jetties or by wading. The soil of the banks is variable; very rocky and slippery in some places, quite swampy in others, mainly easy of access. The smooth waters between the rapids are quite deep. The water of the river is clean and clear, a little bit brown coloured by humus. The bottom of the river is mainly rather dark because of humus.
Along the fishing area there are bridges, jetties, campfires, a log lean-to shelter, an outhouse. On the coartyard of the estate there is a smoke oven/grill.

The Nykälä Rapids gave good catches even in the extremely dry and hot season 1997. In 1998 there was flooding in most rivers in Finland, but the Nykälä Rapids did not suffer from too much water. Fishermen have even been wondering about the amount of fish in the river.
The varied range of fish includes: great brown trout, grayling, white fish, pike, perch, ide and bream. The biggest pikes weigh up to 10 kg, brown trouts up to 5 kg and ides up to 2,5 kg.
