Fanny's Home

Fanny Männistö worked in the bakery of the Workers Cooperative Movement and was active in workers' organisations. She lived in Palosaari, a working class district on a large promontory just outside Vaasa. When she died at the end of the 1990s, her family presented her furniture and personal effects to the Vaasa Museum of Labour.

These have now been re-arranged on the museum premises as a permanent exhibition with the aim of showing how the working class inhabitants of Palosaari lived from day to day and what was significant in their lives.

Images of Vaasa's Labour History

The history of the labour movement in Vaasa from the 1850s to the 1950s in pictures, press cuttings and documents.

This exhibition has been renewed and expanded in September 2013
