"Perhaps no band since early Maiden has caused such a wake on both sides of the pond. Since first being conjured in 1991, Cradle Of Filth have shattered boundaries, blazing a path for the new regime. Granted, any time a group is viewed as raising the chalice in honour of a burgeoning genre, there will be hordes at their heels, swords raised, not in defense, but to claim the throne. Such viciousness is not only exemplified when the throne belongs to the kings of black metal, it is amplified thrice! Yet, not all within the oft maligned scene (which rose from the ashes of 80s black thrash warriors like Venom, Bathory, Celtic Frost and later the church burning antics of the now legendary Satanic Vikings Mayhem & Burzum) are back stabbing villains intent on tearing one another down. In fact, many future greats from this new school are wisely channeling their rage into wonderfully dark & complex creations - sure to fan the fire of Lucifers plight on this god forsaken planet!" "When the inspiration for Covered In Filth arose, the greatest challenge was not finding musicians who merely wished to pay homage to Dani Filths banshee wails or the stylish layers of classically-laced, sublime metallic blasphemy. The real aspiration was to select a coven of 13 forces individual battalions who could magickally recite the Cradle crede of otherworldly gothic horror, adding even sicker twists while attempting to form a unified division that actually intensified the Filth-y mission. Deadline Music threw down the gauntlet - these fearsome warriors took the charge. Now, let the listener decide who is worthy. Hail and Farewell!" |
