About my name

So originally, Sande was not very keen on the idea of getting a second dog. To be precise, in order to get an aussie of her own, Sari had to do some "sili" things (Sili is pronounced exactly the same way as silly), such as walking over Sande. As a result of this, Sande announced that he will at least name the dog, and the matter will not be discussed. So the family began their preparations for the arrival of little Pahvi (which is Finnish for cardboard, and a word you might use to describe someone who is, shall we say, intellectually challenged). Finally, however, Sande came to the conclusion that Pahvi, as a word, is too soft to be yelled on obedience and agility classes. So one evening at the dog park, when the sun was setting slowly and Ufo was all over some innocent pine cone or stick in her customary rabid style, the following conversation took place:

Sande: - Well, what are we going to call it?

Sari: - I dunno.

Sande: - We should decide, 'cause the puppy's coming soon now.

Sari: - Yeah. There's a site on the Internet with 70000 names, maybe we could look there.

Sande: - Oh.

Sari: - They're people names, though.

Sande: - We're not gonna call her Maarit!

Sari: - Well I wasn't thinking of calling her Sirkka-Liisa. (It's a name whose owner would be in her fifties, have round cheeks and bake a lot.)

Sande: - Sirkka-Liisa. Hmmm. Sili. Yeah. Sili. That's it, it'll be called Sili.

Thus uttered the Lord of the Manor, and so it was done. The breeder was probably releaved, too, when the puppy was not named Pahvi... Later, Sari's friends made several "clever" remarks on the name, but that's another story.
