Seirene Cattery

A Seirene story...

I had always thought that I was a "dog person" until my friend at the University took me to a cat show. After wandering there one day I got interested in cats and went to the library to find all cat books available that time. I became fascinated by the evil look of a Burmese cat. One year later I visited a cat show again, this time I went there to see some more Burmese cats. At that show I met the most gorgeous cat, a brown male called Arbiter Nessus. He looked perfect in my eyes and I knew I wanted to have a cat like him! Finally I found in Tampere in Taina Mantovaara´s cattery a little young fellow called Vinku. In June 1994 Shanin Mindze moved to my place. Taina tempted me to take Vinku to a cat show just once, and like many other persons I was hooked ;) When Vinku was a year and a half, I though he might need some feline company. I loved the colour of a chocolate Burmese, so I thought my other cat could be of that special colour. Somewehere in the background there was an idea of possible kittens, so it was natural to look for a little female kitten this time. New years day 1996 I took home from Leena Virtanen´s Misuela Cattery a 12-weeks-old Evelina...When Lina was 1 1/2-year-old it was time to have a litter with her. 	FIN*Seirene was established at FIFé in 1997. In July the same year the first litter was born. From that litter the only girl Ronja lives with her breeder and brings home fame and glory from the show arenas:) Lina had another litter in 1998 and Ronja had a litter in 1999. Later on there appeared problems with Ronja´s litter, so I decided not to breed with that line anymore. Now both Ronja and Lina are happy neuters. I was still interested in breeding, so I decided to take a queen from new bloodlines. One year ago we got a chocolate tortie Elsa from Sweden and I hope she will be a nice breeding cat. At least her relatives has got big and healthy litters.

At our cattery lives a real royalty as well. He´s a chocolate neuter male Moppe (Prince Hamlet), who moved here from Denmark a couple of years ago. His brown son Toope came from Sweden to become Elsa´s fiancé. Toope lives in Pertunmaa with his other owner Pirjo Syväsalo (FIN*Hokkuspokkus) and Ronja´s daughter Vera. Seirene is a very, very small cattery. All our cats are FelV and FIV-negative.The main aim is to get healthy, nice tempered and ofcourse typy and beautiful Burmese cats.
