Read more from the Official Site! ____ May 4th 2001 Skin commenting on the messageboard... [April 20th] Hi there, I just wanted to answer some general questions. To answer your questions about the web site, it's not going to close down for the forseeable future because there is more Skunk news to come, (don't ask what!) There ask no live gigs planned but we have taken on board what you have asked for. Neither Ace's or my website are up and running yet as that's to be sorted out very soon. I can't talk about Ace's record as that's for him to do but I'm going in to record mine from the beginning of June with a new Producer called David Kolsten. No, we're not going to open a phoneline like Take That did c'os we're not a baby boy band! :) and Finally we split up because we felt that we all want different things that we can no longer achieve together, we don't want to dilute the great thing we had, we want it remain as good as it was but we didn't split up because we hate each other and we've never been a 'tabloid' band either so there's no fear of any nasty stories, (apart from the one about....:) Hope that clears up a few question marks! Love Skin xxx PS. I've asked the boys to come on the web site too, hopefully they will. ____ April 20th 2001 SKUNK ANANSIE SPLITS UP!!!!!! Sad sad sad day... "Skunk Anansie formed in 1994 and released three hugely successful albums, 'Paranoid & Sunburnt' (1995), 'Stoosh' (1996) and 'Post Orgasmic Chill' (1999). In total they have sold four million albums worldwide and notched up eight hit singles. Skin and Ace are both currently working on solo albums, Cass is concentrating on careers in photography and music, while Mark has acted in a short film and also continues to pursue music." As previously reported, Skin has been recording new songs on her own since September, and was writing in France. She described the material as focusing on "good lyrics and melodies." Her solo album is slated for release early in 2002. Still... THIS SUCKS. BIG TIME. ____ February 6th 2001 Mark getting devorced Sad news. Mark and her finnish wife Maria Guzenina filed for a devorce a week ago. They got married on Christmas Eve 1999. Maria said that the decicion wasn't, but both Mark and her agreed that this is for the best. After having stormy feelings for over half a year, she finally feels peaceful.
Their son Alexander was born in September 1999. _____ January 19th 2001 Skin supporting an important issue Updates on the Official Pages; go read Skin's New Year message and interview for the FORWARD newsletter, an organisation campaigning against V.V.F. (Vesico Vaginal Fistula) _____ December 23rd 2000 Skin updates on the Official Pages If you haven't already, go check out the Official SA pages with Skin telling us what she's been up to. Also check out the funny Xmas card by Skin... MERRY XMAS EVERYONE! _____ November 4th 2000 Mark updating on the Official pages Mark
updated us fans, about what he's been up to during the
brake; acting, rehursing, teaching... read it at the Official SA site or here: "There's nothing noble in being superior to someone else; nobility lies in being superior to your previous self." ...and hence the Skunks take a break for that very reason. We don't get off on being superior to other people but we do all want to constantly grow and improve ourselves. And so we move on in the hope of what can be accomplished and are not held back by what cannot be done. I think that it's easy to rest on your laurels and so it became time to follow our own stars for a while, a difficult task for individuals that have been constantly in each others company for the best part of the last seven years. The thing is we are all as individuals extremely driven and we realised that there is only so much time we can spend with each other before being forced to take some time apart. It's only natural. (Don't worry it's not permanent there will certainly be another Skunk album). I know I stopped growing, and so I relish this chance to do something different, to try all the things that I have wanted to do but I have not had the either the time or the inclination. To try and grow a little so that I have something amazing to offer them all when Da Skunks reconvene. Practising Teaching Acting Sessions (I'm also doing parachute jump soon! Aaaaaaaaaaagh!) So there is a lot to be getting on with and it's not easy going it alone after being bolstered by such talent for so long but my attitude is the same as it was before I turned professional; when faced with a seemingly impossible task (in my case acting) have the attitude like it is impossible to fail. In other words if you're going to after Moby Dick make sure you take along the tartar sauce!!! Good luck and much love Mark ___ November 2nd 2000 Take it from SKIN: SKUNK ARE NOT SPLITTING UP!! There's
been some talk about Skunks breaking up, possibly because
all of the solo work they've done, but Skin clears this
up for us on the messageboard of the Official SA site: She also commented on the collaborations she's done... "Nice to see your all up to speed! Didn't realise I'd done so many. Thought it might be interesting to tell you about the ones that didn't come out for one reason or another! Skin & Prodigy, Skin & Tim Simeon/David Arnold, Skin & Roni Size. There are no more to come though, next stuff from us is Ace's collaborations album and my solo album, then the New Skunk Anansie sound album. " So
there we go, no need to worry. Other news: both Ace &
Brian May joined Motorhead for the song "Overkill"
at the Motorhead gig at Brixton Academy. ___ October 21st 2000 More gossip There's a rumor going around that also Cass is making some sort of a solo project and Mark has been asked to make a movie! I haven't seen any proof of these, the rumor started from the Italian press. True or false, go figure. ___ October 15th 2000 I'm back, WITH MORE NEWS!!! I've

was some talk ages ago (in March) about Skin doing vocals
for Black Sabbath's guitarist Tony Iommi's upcoming
soloalbum. Well, it appears that also Ace took part in
this co-operation by playing some guitars on the track
"Meat". The album is to be released 10th of
October. The Skunksters weren't the only ones to do co-operation;
on the album you can also hear artists like Billy Corgan
(Smashing Pumpkins), Dave Grohl (Foo Fighters), Fred
Durst (Limp Bizkit) and Henry Rollins. ____ July 13th 2000 Rumors There's
a rumor going round that Skunk Anansie has teamed up with
Lulu for some sort of co-operation. Whether this is true
or not is to be seen... ____ June 27th 2000 SA goes Pavarotti Skunk

I don't know what song, and when it'll be available, but I'll let you know if I find out! This is where I found the news (thanks Davide, again!) ____ May 3rd 2000 Skunk Anansie UK gig Skunk

anansie :( _____ February 28th 2000: Cover Weak I just bought Rod Stewart album, the one with the cover version of Weak. Rod, stick to what you do best, "I'm Sailing" and those good-old-songs. What's the point of re-record a song that is PERFECT as it is. Never touch a classic. Especially this one. Man... _____ February 25th 2000: Another article about Maria Another magazine (Anna 15/2/2000) reports about Maria Guzenina's motherhood. Mark's and Maria's son Alexander Percival Bonham (Bonham from the late Led Zeppelin drummer, other names from the family) was baptized in January in a russian Orthodox church, in Kensington, London. One of the gifts little Alex got was a toydrum which he has been playing with an attitude (Mark junior indeed!). The kid sleeps in bed with his parents and as Maria is almost 24h with Alex, Mark gets to do his share, by feeding little Alex, doing the loundry, keeping the house clean and preparing dinner. Maria says she's very proud of her husband. Oh, what a rock 'n roll daddy! _____ About Mark and his family Just spotted a little article about Maria G. (Mark's wife). Their son Alexander Bonham (after the late Led Zeppelin drummer) will be baptized soon (probably is by now, it wasn't the latest issue) in their home town, Willesden London. According to the story, Alex is the first "skunk-baby" and therefor is being spoiled with gifts e.g. Gucci rattle. Mark is trying to spend as much time as possible with his family and Maria is also dedicated her self for taking care of´ their firstborn. All the best to the Richardson family! _______ |
